I’m happy to share that a grant I wrote for suicide prevention and mental health awareness was approved last night by the Foundation for Mott Community College!
I’m excited that our team will provide training and awareness to the college community on how to effectively work with suicidal and in-crisis individuals. This grant will provide literally hundreds of faculty, staff, and students the opportunity and knowledge over the next three years on how to listen, support, and connect suicidal and in-crisis individuals to services. The training supports the college community in best practices on how to help a suicidal or in-crisis individual.
The grant will also support online mental health screening that allows our college community to be screened for depression, anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, and substance use disorders. The online mental health screening provides users information about potential concerns, videos, educational materials, and connections to on and off campus resources.
