About

Jeff Simms Licensed Professional Counselor

Jeff Simms Licensed Professional Counselor

I’m a higher education professional involved with student services (student affairs). As a Licensed Professional Counselor (#CounselorsCare) and Academic Advisor (#AcAdv) I focus my energies on student success, retention, and mental health awareness.

Everyday I work with students to reduce barriers that challenge a student’s academic success and progress towards obtaining their personal, educational, and career goals. I connect students to supportive services and resources on and off campus to help them stay successful. I also provide professional personal (mental health) and career counseling to students.

Currently I’m the Program Coordinator, Student Success Specialist, and Faculty member of the Counseling & Student Development Division at Mott Community College (MCC).

I graduated from Oakland University with my Master’s Degree in Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Michigan and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I can provide counseling supervision for those seeking to move from a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) to a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

I am the Past-President of Genesee Area Counseling Association. I am a member of the American Counseling Association, the Michigan Counseling Association, Genesee Area Counseling Association, Michigan Mental Health Counseling Association, National Academic Advising Association, and the Michigan Academic Advising Association.
